A week of prayer for young people
All this week, the organisers of next Saturday's Youth Work Summit event (which include Premier Youthwork) are inviting you to join them in praying for the young people of the UK. You can find out a bit more about the idea here. Each day, we'll be posting a few prayer pointers on here, as well as suggesting some of the people and organisations that you might like to join us in praying for who work in that area.
Today, our focus is on education and schools. We're praying for young people who we know who either struggle or flourish in school; for teachers and other educational specialists, and for all Christians seeking to work directly in or with schools.
Suggested prayer points:
- Pray for Christian schools workers and schools work trusts throughout the UK, that they will find favour with schools, and be able to represent Jesus well in their work
- Pray for young people you know, for their success and flourishing in school, and that they would either be able to hear or share the gospel in school
- Pray for Education secretary Michael Gove - that he will make wise decisions, have the courage to listen to good counsel, and develop better relationships with schools and teachers
- Pray for Christian Unions - particularly those near you - that they would grow in depth and numbers
Some organisations and individuals working in this area, who you could join us in praying for today:
- YFC's RE:Quest project, now being used to bring education around Christian beliefs into thousands of schools
- Schoolswork.co.uk, equipping and networking Christian schools workers around the UK
- The leaders heading up faith schools in the Church of England, Catholic church, and in other denominations
If you tweet, why not share your reflections, prayers and prayer requests using the hashtag #prayforyouth. Just don't do it instead of actually praying…
