Those people who live in Gaza are mainly the unbe­lievably young – the average is 17, and so about a quarter of a million people are under ten. If you know any [chil­dren this age], the idea that in the looseness of a war zone you can control your children and they won’t be hit – well you can’t hope to control that. If you decide to throw missiles or shells into a densely populated area, you will kill children and that’s what they [the Israeli military] do.’  Channel 4 News presenter Jon Snow, following his trip to Gaza.

After seeing this video, one eight year-old girl wrote to Foreign Secretary Philip Ham­mond saying: ‘I think that it is sad that so many people in Gaza are being injured or dying, especially women and children. It’s our fault. We are killing the people of Gaza by giving Israel weapons. We need to take our part in it and stop giving Israel weapons or who knows how long this is going to go on for. I would ap­preciate it if you could talk to the government of Israel and try to stop this tragedy.’
