DRAGON ’S DEN

 Divide into two groups asking each group to imagine themselves on Dragon’s Den, where they have to pitch their idea to the other group. (These are genuine Dragon’s Den ideas.) Throx – socks that come in threes, rather than the boring conventional pair, allowing you to keep wearing them if you lose one. The Wake ‘n’ Bacon - an alarm clock with a timer to start grilling some bacon. Once both ideas have been pitched ask each group to discuss the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (potential problems or dangers) of each idea (a SWOT analysis), before deciding if they are ‘in’.

RIGHT IDEA FOR THE RIGHT PERSON

 In small groups read one of the Bible passages and discuss how the people became Christians. What influenced them? What method of evangelism was used? (Acts 2:14-41, Acts 5:12-16, Acts 8:26-39, Acts 16:16-34, Acts 19:1-10.)

SWOT

 Write the five possible missional ideas from last week on separate flipchart sheets, and put four sections under each idea - S/W/O/T. Discuss the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of each idea with the whole group. Remind them that your focus is the Big Weekender. All the ideas may be great, but which idea is right for the bank holiday weekend? As a group, decide on one or two ideas to do as part of the Big Weekender.

DISCUSSION

 Watch in detail and prepare some simple questions based on the OK Go video from the links section of the Youthwork website. As you can imagine, this must have involved a huge amount of planning to achieve and brings about a huge chain reaction.

WHAT, WHEN, WHO (The Action Plan)

 Spend the rest of this session making an action plan for your missional idea(s). Consider what needs to be done and what order it needs to happen in. Divide a flip-chart sheet into columns headed what, when and who.

What: List all the tasks to be completed before and on the day of your missional initiative. Consider equipment, funding, publicity, roles, risk assessments, word and action, etc. 

When: Ask the group to spot the ‘chain reactions’ that are needed. Which tasks must happen first, before other tasks are possible? Give completion deadlines to all of the tasks, in the ‘when’ column. It might be helpful to work backwards from the bank holiday weekend.

Who: Finally delegate each task for each initiative to a named individual or group.
