Premier NexGen addressed an eclectic range of topics on sex and relationships this year - Gareth Crispin pulls out the most popular articles
Sex and relationships are clearly areas that Christian parents want help with. We all need to navigate a range of issues, opportunities and risks with our youth and children and whilst me might be afraid to ask we’re only too ready to read good quality content when it comes along.
NexGen’s articles on sex and relationships in 2025 had headlines that you might expect. The popularity of an article on porn is perhaps unsurprising given it is one of the single biggest issues for young people today, but there were popular articles on more recent developments such as the emergence of ASMR, ‘situationships’ and responding to government guidance on sex and relationship education. The most popular article, however, was on bisexuality, not as widely relevant perhaps but clearly something parents wanted to read about.
1. 3 things Christian parents should know about bisexuality

Andrew Bunt from Living Out picks three really helpful, significant and winsome aspects of bisexuality that Christian parents would do well to consider sooner rather than later. Andrew balances compassion with biblical wisdom in a way that is much needed in discussing these issues today.
2. What Christian parents should know about the new sex and relationships education guidance

Christian parents need to be well informed when it comes to what schools do and don’t teach when it comes to sex and relationships. The popularity of this piece from James Mildred (Director of Communications and Engagement at CARE) suggests that parents know that and are keen to engage with clear, helpful and accurate advice.
3. 4 steps Christian parents can take to address the issue of p*rn

Where do you start with talking to your children about porn. Robin Barfield writes that you need to start with you. We need to start with us because most of the issues and barriers to talking to our youth and children come form within us and our own awkwardness and hang ups. Read Robin’s article for help.
4. 5 ways Christian parents can respond to ‘situationships’

If you’ve not yet heard about ‘situationships’ then Sara Taylor’s article is one for you. In a confusing world this can be a confusing idea for Christian parents to get their head around and a confusing place for young people to be. Sara brings her usual insight and sound advice to what is a tricky issue to navigate.
5. A gateway to porn or just a nice way to relax? What Christian parents need to know about ASMR

You may not have heard of ASMR – if you haven’t then click on the link and read on. It might have crept in under the radar a bit but it’s important that Christian parents know what it is and how to talk to their young people about it - Sara Taylor delivers again.
Sex and relationships will always be something Christian parents need and want to know more about, especially in a world which is moving as fast as ours. Rest assured that in 2026 we’ll keep close to what it emerging in culture and get you great articles that inform and equip you.
