2025 provided some of the most captivating and controversial TV shows for years. Premier NexGen covered them for Christian parents - here’s the top 5 most popular articles

TV in the last 20 years has changed beyond recognition. We used to watch live TV, mostly on the terrestrial channels. At a push, we’d sometimes record shows we wanted to watch later (who remembers VHS tapes!).

People do still watch live TV, but the big story of the last 20 years has been the launch of streaming services. With hindsight it was inevitable and obvious that TV would go in this direction. The amount of money being poured into shows these days was inconceivable years ago and big name actors would not be seen dead on TV, they wanted to be in films. We’ll that’s all changed now.

In 2025 there have been some amazing shows, some new, some new series of pre-existing shows; some light hearted, some hard hitting.

Let’s have a look at the top 5 read articles on TV shows from Premier NexGen this year….

1. New Disney+ series for children Win or Lose has an openly Christian character in it, but that doesn’t mean it’s a complete cause for celebration

Given the massive TV shows that came along later on in the year it is perhaps a surprise that this offering from Disney was the most read piece on a TV show in 2025. Maybe it’s the age demographic or maybe it was the interest of an openly Christian character who was not negatively portrayed but either way this was the most popular out of all the articles.

Dawn Kay wrote a great article especially given the complexities of Laurie, the Christian character. Dawn’s piece is full of insight, empathy and reflective questions – as with all the TV shows listed here, it’s still available so why not read the article and give it a watch?

2. What The Celebrity Traitors reveals about the human heart — and why Christian parents should care

Whilst The Celebrity Traitors was not as big a show as Kpop Demon Hunters, it was bigger amongst teenagers. It captivated many families with teens and young adults and Alice Pinney’s excellent reflection on what is says about human nature was well received by many.

3. The new Netflix series Adolescence raises difficult but essential issues for Christian parents to grapple with

Adolescence

Adolescence took the UK by storm with its continuous take filming, raw acting and searing look at misogyny and the darker side of the internet. Sara Taylor’s article is well worth reading for the way in which she draws on her background in psychology and youth work to help us see the complexities of the situation whilst suggesting practical steps parents can take.

4. 4 takeaways for Christian parents from David Attenborough’s new BBC animal documentary: Parenthood

In amongst the glitzy and gritty it was great to see this article read so widely. It was a refreshing take on parenting. There is only so much we can learn from the animal kingdom of course but nevertheless there was plenty of insights to be drawn from Attenborough’s documentary – whether it’s from watching hippos, lions or even crabs there is inspiration for us.

5. Despite the dark exterior Wednesday has themes Christian parents should welcome and lean into with their families

Wednesday captures so much of what makes a successful TV series in the contemporary world. It’s a spin off of an old tried and tested favourite (The Addams’ family) – it is sassy, brilliantly produced, directed and acted and of course must have cost a fortune! For some of course, it’s dark and supernatural content means it’s a no no for their family, Lisa Skinner addresses that as an issue in her article as well as suggesting some of the ways in which Christian parents can engage constructively with it.

2026 will have it’s own big shows hitting our small screens, but whatever comes you can trust Premier NexGen to pick them up and send you great articles that help you make your own mind up on each one.
