Alone in a room full of people

As youth workers, we are often perceived to be social beings: at the centre of the crowd, leading from the front, friendly and larger than life. So the idea that youth work can be a lonely profession is often a surprise to others. However, in the youth work world, professional and personal lines become blurred; we are often alone in our offices and homes during the day and we are working when others are out socialising in the evening.
