Commenting on his appointment, Andrew said: ‘I am delighted to have joined The Boys’ Brigade, where I get to work alongside volunteers and staff across the UK and Republic of Ireland. The Boys’ Brigade plays a vital role in transforming the lives of children and young people, and making a difference in the communities it serves, and it is an immense privilege to be able to be part of this.’
Brigade president, The Lord Griffiths of Burry Port, said: ‘Andrew has brought vast experience to the Boys’ Brigade. I’m confident he will offer clear leadership as The Boys’ Brigade moves forward into a new era of its existence.’
Meanwhile The Girls’ Brigade has produced a new GB-crested New Testament in partnership with The Gideons International. This special edition will be offered to every GB member in England and Wales over the age of 11.
Catherine Erbetta, national auxiliary chaplain of The Gideons International in the British Isles, said, ‘We pray that the Testaments will be a real blessing to the girls of Girls’ Brigade.’
The Testaments include a prayer written by GB member Leilani Mildren. GB’s Media Co-ordinator Catherine Burt adds: ‘It’s so exciting to work with The Gideons and produce a New Testament. We hope everyone who receives one of them will come to know God better as they read his word and strengthen their faith as a result.’
