Rt Revd Steven Croft, Bishop of Sheffield and chair of the ministry division said: ‘The Church of England has a fresh vision and commitment to see people in their teens and twenties exploring God’s call to ministry. The scheme will help many young people explore that call in the years to come.’
This opportunity follows the comments of Lord Carey, former Archbishop of Canterbury, who said that the Church of England is just ‘one generation from extinction’. Lord Carey said that the fault lay with Church leaders who should be ‘ashamed’ at the lack of children and young people in their services.
Applications are open in the spring for the 2014-2015 programme which will begin on 1st September, open to 18-30 year-olds
