Martyn Whittock graduated in Politics from Bristol University (specialising in Soviet History, 1917-41, and Christian political radicals of the British Civil Wars). He taught History for 35 years in comprehensive schools and was Head of History and Head of Humanities Faculty at several schools. He is currently a writer, columnist, and commentator, with a particular interest in the interaction between faith and history, politics, and culture. He is a regular contributor to conversations on both Christian and secular radio stations, and on TV discussion programmes.

He is the author of fifty-five books, including many school History textbooks for GCSE and A-Level, and also adult History books. Recent books include: the GCSE textbook Russia and the Soviet Union, 1917-1941 (2016), and adult History books such as Mayflower Lives (2019), The Secret History of Soviet Russia’s Police state (2020), Jesus the Unauthorized Biography (2021), and Apocalyptic Politics (2022). He is also a Licensed Lay Minister in the Church of England.
