Church-based children’s work with children that have additional (special) needs or disabilities has always been out on the margins: something that has been occasionally provided in response to a specific, direct need. It is rarely viewed as a missional outreach opportunity, and indeed, it is common for there to be some resistance to inclusion, even in churches where there are families with a child with additional needs.
